Helping you to help yourself

Welcome to Therapy with Ling

Welcome, and thank you for visiting. My name is Ling and I provide Counselling, Psychotherapy & Art Psychotherapy in South and Central London, Surrey & Online

Welcome

Hello my name is Ling. I studied Fine Arts at university and later on Social Work. I started off my career in 2012 as a Social Worker on an island in Hong Kong, working in a secure residential home with boys presenting with challenging behaviours and their families. I soon realised that the behaviours stemmed from trauma and attachment issues that were deeply complex. Seeing families stuck and suffering from inter-generational trauma sparked my interest in trauma-based psychotherapy, so I packed my bags and moved to the UK to start my masters in Art Psychotherapy. Since 2017 I have worked extensively within the NHS where I am humbled by passionate colleagues and resilient families who continue to inspire me every day. When I am not working, I love making arts and crafts, trying different foods, going on dog walks, and travelling.

I offer a chance to reflect on the difficulties or problems you are experiencing in a safe and confidential environment, with someone from outside your day-to-day life. Together we can explore your situation in a way that leads to fresh perspectives - and perhaps a new understanding of yourself.

Apart from Art Psychotherapy and Psychotherapy, I am also trained in Theraplay, Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP) and Dialectic Behavioural Therapy (DBT).

I work with people from all walks of life and backgrounds, coming to me with a diverse range of problems. As a fully-qualified psychotherapist I am a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy, and abide by their code of ethics. I am able to offer sessions in both English and Cantonese. 我能夠用英語或廣東話提供輔導和評估服務。

Your journey

As a psychotherapist, my role is to provide a safe space and guidance to help you on your journey of self-discovery. Many of our current difficulties stem from early experiences that have not been processed. In sessions, if you would like, we will examine some of your earlier experiences and relationships and perhaps they will give us a glimpse into the root of the problem.

My approach

My approach is person-centred, meaning I will always go at your pace. I provide an empathetic, non-judgmental and confidential environment where we can explore your situation in a way that leads to fresh perspectives. Psychotherapy isn’t about giving you solutions, but empowering you to make your own changes.

Who I work with

I specialise in children and young people who have experienced trauma and display behaviours that may be challenging, especially those who are care-experienced, adopted or living under a Special Guardianship Order. However I also work with adults with range of trauma, including political oppression and displacement.
